Top advisors to the industry have always advised becoming an "expert" in your local market niche. With the advent of Social Media, you can have a Blog, a profile on a social networking site (LinkedIn, Myspace, Facebook) and you can share videos on sites like YouTube and Google. If you know what you are doing, you can set yourself apart quickly and dominate your local market niche. If you don't know what you are doing, or do it "half-way" you can cause irreversible damage to your personal brand. You've probably heard those terms lately and you may be wondering what they are all about. Social Media Marketing is all about identifying what your target is interested in (what they find relevant) and then creating content that draws them to your business. Simply stated, Social Media Marketing is about starting a conversation with your customers and engaging them in it. Let's say you create a Myspace and a Facebook profile that shows off all the houses you list and sell. How many houses do you think it will sell? Will anyone care? Let's say you write a blog about all the houses you sell. How many people will bother to read it? Or, maybe you make a bunch of video tours of your listings and upload them to YouTube. Will anyone besides active home buyers watch them? On the other hand, let's say you offer tips and advice on buying and selling a home on Facebook and Twitter. Or, you have instructional videos for FSBO's on Youtube. Videos showing people how to stage their homes and work with a Buyer's Agent. Do you think that would get a far greater response and endear people to you? Do you think people would remember you when it came time to buy or sell their home? Do you think people would want to SHARE that with their friends? We can advise and assist you in creating a social media presence and managing it along the way. One warning about this medium - it's not a "set it and forget it" solution. This will take some "work" on your part but we are here to do the heavy lifting. Social Media Marketing is one of the most powerful business tools to come along for Real Estate and can work wonders for the select few agents that are willing to put the work in. Afterall, becoming someone's "friend" takes time. |
