Blogging.  Facebook.  Myspace.  Youtube.  Twitter.

You've probably heard those terms lately and you may be wondering what they are all about.

What they AREN'T is just another marketing channel.

You simply can't create advertising and release it to the social media sites.  Creating a Myspace page for your business and then spamming people to join so you can further spam them with offers that are irrelevant is NOT social marketing.

What Social Media Marketing is, however, is the process of identifying what your target is interested in (what they find relevant) and then creating content that draws them to your business.

Simply stated, Social Media Marketing is about starting a conversation with your customers and engaging them in it.

Let's say you are a general contractor and you create a Myspace and a Facebook profile that shows off your great work.  How many houses do you think it will sell?  Let's say you write a blog about how great your houses are.  How many people will bother to read it?  Or, maybe you make a bunch of videos showing tours of your houses and upload them to YouTube.  How many people will watch them?

On the other hand, let's say you offer tips and advice on Facebook and Twitter.  Or, you have instructional videos showing people how to hang drywall or lay tile on Youtube (you could film a subcontractor who's already doing this and agrees to it).  Do you think that would get a far greater response and endear people to your brand?  Do you think people would want to SHARE that with their friends?

We can advise and assist you in creating a social media presence and managing it along the way.  One warning about this medium - it's not a "set it and forget it" solution. This will take some "work" on your part but we are here to do the heavy lifting.

Social Media Marketing is one of the most powerful business tools to come along and can work wonders for the select few businesses that are willing to put the work in.

Afterall, becoming someone's "friend" takes time.
